Description
Approximately 10 cm.

This is a beautiful Buddha's arm with an old, tense, and exquisite form.
It is likely from the late Edo period (around 1800) and was made by a Buddhist sculptor.
I believe it was originally part of a small Bodhisattva statue (around 40 cm) from a temple.

Although the carving is subtle, it skillfully expresses the natural swell of the hand and the flow of the arm.
Precious animal glue from the period remains at the base.

The stick inserted is for photography purposes and is not included.
Fragments of the original part remain in the hole of the hand, so it is not a through hole.

Although it is only an arm,
it has a presence that makes you want to gaze at it.
If you enshrine it gently,
it will be the pure light of a bodiless Bodhisattva...
