Jeannette
Please note this listing is for (1) 3.75 compote, (1) 5.75 saucer and (1) 5.75 plate. This footed sherbet bowl was produced by the Jeannette Glass Company during the 1920s through 1950s as part of their popular Iris and Herringbone pattern line. The iridescent marigold finish, characteristic of carnival glass, was achieved by spraying metallic salts on the glass surface before firing, creating the distinctive rainbow shimmer. Originally sold as affordable glassware during the Depression era and beyond, these pieces were given away as premiums at carnivals and movie theaters, hence the name carnival glass. This plate was produced by the Jeannette Glass Company during the 1940s-1950s as part of their Iris and Herringbone pattern line. The marigold iridescent finish, characteristic of carnival glass, was achieved through a spray-on metallic coating applied before firing. This pattern became one of Jeannette's most popular Depression-era glass designs, featuring detailed floral iris motifs surrounded by a distinctive herringbone border.
