French Four Chamber Liqueur Decanter Made in France Quadrant Carafe No Stopper
N/A
Please read first: this decanter has no stopper, and it is priced accordingly. What it does have is the trick that makes these worth owning: an X-shaped divider inside the body splits it into four sealed chambers, so you can pour four different liqueurs from one bottle and each comes out of its own quadrant depending on which way you tilt it. Look into the base photos and you can see the four wells clearly. Clear pressed glass, paneled and softly fluted, with a ringed collar under a slim flared neck and a wide flat base. It is a French form, sold under names like carafe a quatre compartiments, and the base is marked MADE IN FRANCE. Cristal d'Arques and Luminarc are the usual suspects for this kind of mid-century French tableware glass, but the base carries no maker's name, so we are naming the country and not the factory. Condition: Gently used, with the stopper missing as noted above. No chips, no cracks, no flea bites at the mouth. Some light interior water film and a few faint surface scuffs on the base consistent with age and shelf use. All four chambers are intact and pour cleanly. - Maker: Unmarked; base reads MADE IN FRANCE - Form: Four-chamber liqueur decanter / quadrant carafe - Quantity: 1 decanter (no stopper) - Size: approx. 11 in tall - Marks: MADE IN FRANCE on the base - Era: c. 1950s-1960s An unusual bar-cart piece, and a genuine conversation starter when someone works out how it pours.
